Hollywood DVD's only with PowerDVD - Not WMP11

Normal Hollywood movie DVD's in WMP 11 on Vista show up in the playlist and show the first screen with the movie rating. Then an error message says it can't play due to an unknown DRM problem.
My drives are properly set to Region 1. The files of the DVD's show up fine in My Computer.
Funny that non-copy protected stuff like adult movie DVD's play fine!
I tried switching from the ATI Catalyst Vista beta driver back to the Microsoft driver to no effect, so I put back the ATI beta's.
I then installed PowerDVD 6 Deluxe. Despite the messages of known incompatibilites, PowerDVD plays the Hollywood movies fine. Just don't try the PowerDVD 7 upgrade! That uninstalled 6 then when the 7 install failed I had nothing in the PowerDVD folder. I just reininstalled 6 and updated it to 2003e version and it works fine (just need to turn off the top screen toolbar since it doesn't auto-hide properly).
But these DVD's still won't play in WMP 11. The DVD options page in WMP 11 has all the Cyberlink stuff in it.

It turns out that installing AnyDVD from Slysoft, since it removes copy protection, enables WMP 11 to play normal DVD's.
I can't believe this stuff is by design. It must be some bug that I need to install software to remove copy protection in order to play DVD's with WMP. It's nice that any other DVD player software works, but it shouldn't be necessary to circumvent copy protection to get things to work in WMP. -- Dennis Asus A7V880/Epox 8KRAIPRO AthonXP3200+/Sempron3300+ Crucial 2x512MB ATI Radeon x850PRO/Gigabyte Nvidia 6600GT Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro/Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

Well, it is a beta. How it works now doesn't necessarily reflect the way the actual shipping product will work.
